Follow Up Appointments

King Edward Memorial Hospital Neonatal Follow Up Program

The Neonatology Clinical Care Unit (NCCU) provides developmental follow-up for some babies who require medical assistance after birth. 

It monitors your baby's progress through early life and provides expert advice and intervention where needed. It is run through the Special Care Nursery at KEMH and Ward 6B at PMH. Criteria for inclusion in the program are one of the following:

  • Preterm birth (before 32 weeks gestation)
  • Birth weight of less than 1500grams
  • Major surgery in the neonatal period
  • Seizures or fits
  • Very poor condition at birth
  • Serious illness (such as meningitis)

Princess Margaret Hospital Outpatient Clinic

Your baby may be referred to the outpatient clinic at PMH for follow up with a specialised medical team. More information on this clinic can be found here.
